In a Sorrowful Age
I am totally supportive of both players and characters keeping secrets from one another. My point of view is this, unless you are absolutely amazing, meta-knowledge will seep through and influence your character’s actions. Suspicion between characters is healthy and normal amongst powerful individuals who have just met one another and plotting in such a way that isn’t entirely beneficial to your new friends is only natural. Of course, keep in mind the fun-factor for everyone involved.
With all this in mind, I would prefer downtime to take place via emails. I can’t create co-GMs on this site because that is an Ascendant Member ability only. That’s probably for the best, because this site is littered with GM-only pages that co-GMs would be able to read. If you want everyone to know what your player is doing, then I suggest someone sending an email to everyone with the actions of your character. You can all then respond to this email with your own character’s actions that are public and keep this email thread going, reducing the total email clutter in all of our inboxes. For private downtime, or downtime that only involves one other, then one-to-one emails are probably the way to go. Just keep in mind that some characters might let everyone else in on your schemes.
Needless to say, I would like to be included as a recipient for all emails that you send related to downtime. Not only will this key me in on the activities of your characters, but it will allow me to reward experience appropriately. Yes, you will be receiving experience for partaking in downtime. No, it probably won’t be a lot.
